Our interview discusses when Sir George Martin first auditioned The Beatles in 1962 and the influence that the comedy show “The Goons” had on their mutual sense of humor. We then reminisce about the impact of the album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band as well as the concepts of albums versus singles in reference to a private performance by John Lennon for Sir George of the hit song Strawberry Fields. Sir George gets into some of these details in his book “Summer of Love: The Making of the Sgt. Pepper,” and he reveals his favorite album as Abbey Road. Dr. Bob then moves to ask Sir George about The Beatles Love show in Las Vegas and the partnership with Cirque du Soleil. We end our interview with Sir George’s thoughts on various topics such as the differences between the United States and England concerning global warming and organic foods and paranormal and extraterrestrial phenomena. This interview was recorded in 2007.
