Archetypal Inflation in a Post-Truth World

Inspired by recent contributions to the sense-making conversations from Rebel Wisdom and Charles Eisenstein, Eivind reflects on the ways in which leaders of the conversation MUST dare to face the demons of their inner worlds in liminal times such as these.

For it is in the nature of the liminal to unearth our inner exiles, and in order to integrate them, our constructed and partial identities have to die so that a more integrated one can be born.

This is why the liminal of the Underworld is a "tomb and a womb", and a generous invitation from the evolutionary impulse to become whole and integrated.

When we refuse, we hunker down on our narratives - designed to hide ourselves from ourselves - and then we go in search for people who love the narrative we're pushing, so that can keep the dying story alive.

And so it happens in a post-truth world that leaders - and their followers - are often no longer committed to truth, but to what gets them sufficient attention to keep remaining unchanged.

And that's when archetypal inflation can set in.

This is tricky territory, and we have to explore it.
