I printed up and assembled a complete prototype for my Square Rail Linear Bearing and I decided to load test it to see how rigid it is compared to the round rails I'm currently using.
At only 6 thousandths of an inch (.15mm) deflection at 1.7 ft-lbs of torque (2.3Nm), I'm pretty pleased with their performance, especially considering the entire round rod assembly wobbled if I so much as touched it! This is only one rail too, my current design for the X gantry on the 3D printed CNC calls for two of these rails!
