Now I damn sure know I am no Conway Twitty BUT, there is a story about why I went ahead and recorded this song. Totally my version .
Kale Riley talked me into it.
Kale layed a few tracks to our songs on the Cowboy Up Album & played a few shows with us on and off. He was an amazing drummer !
Well he got sick and had a stroke and could no longer play. He sent me songs he wanted me to record for him and this was one of them. Everyone knows that I don't touch anything Conway Twitty because I have always felt NO ONE can do any justice doing Conway BUT Conway. I am a huge fan of Conway as most are.
I finally gave in. I did'nt have my band playing on the cut it was just me.. I played all the instruments and everything else in this recording. It made me a stronger musician for doing it. Thank You Kale Riley for the challange brother. I didn't know I could learn to play the piano in an hour..lol Its not the best in the world but he thought so , SO WTH, here it is !
We lost Kale shortly after I did this for him.
He is very missed..
"The Clown" was written by Wayne Carson, Brenda Barnett, Charlie Chalmers and Sandra Rhodes and Conway Twitty had a huge hit with it.
