Nancy Schaefer served in the Georgia State Senate from 2004 to 2008.
Mrs. Schaefer was a Christian Conservative who got involved in activism against the Department of Child Protective Services after she found substantial corruption within the child welfare and foster care industries. After four years of investigation, on November 16, 2007 she complied a, "The Corrupt Business of Child Protective Services". Publication of this report led to the loss of her position as Senator. She stood firm against gay marriage and abortion. She promoted having the Ten Commandments displayed in public places.
On March 26, 2010, Nancy and her husband Bruce, were found dead. Nancy was shot in the back and Bruce had a gunshot wound to the chest. It was deemed a murder-suicide, with no full investigation. The timing and circumstances were suspicious, considering Nancy was in the middle of working on a documentary about CPS corruption that featured families who were victimized by CPS. She and Bruce were married for 52 years. Her grandson has commented on YouTube that the family does not understand what is happening and reached out on the comment thread for people to come forward if they had any information.
