Main Text

Amos 8:11, 11“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord GOD, “when I will send a famine on the land—not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.

2 Timothy 4:1-5, 1I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3For the time is coming when people will not endure sounda teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 5As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

The Failure Of Knowing Why We Do What We Do

Issues We Face In Our Reality Today:

Our Culture Dictates Our Truth
Our Culture Determines Our Morality
Our Culture Decimates Our Faith

The Failure Of Knowing Why We Do What We Do

Matthew 28:16-20, 16Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!
18Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Our Biggest Battles We Will Face:

Christ’s Authority Versus Our Authority

-Without Christ We Are Nothing!

Programs over People
There are 4 ways we make disciples:

-Teach

-Correct

-Model

-Love

Inward Focus versus Outward Focused

-When we lose our love for the lost, we will begin to stop growing as a church.

-Personal Preferences Are NOT The Standard.

-The Mission Comes Before Emotions

-Leaders Sacrifice For The Congregation

-Transfer Growth Is Not The Growth We Seek

Growing In Faith Versus Apathetic In Our Faith

-We stop reaching the lost when Jesus comes back.

-Our mission to all people rescued, redeemed, and restored

We can not do this in our own power

We can not do this when programs have priority over souls

We can not do this if we are inward focused

We can not do this if we get comfortable in our faith.

Acts 242All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supperi), and to prayer. 43A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosityj— 47all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
