Born and raised in some of the toughest barrios of Los Angeles, surrounded by abuse and no father figure, Ruben stayed strong and avoided the siren call of gang life that claimed so many of his friends and family members.

From being a rising star within the LAPD to a convicted felon who is still on parole. Ruben had a few experiences during his career that we think might all recognize either in ourselves or other officers.

Ruben Palomares - Palomares, a former Golden Gloves boxer who sparred with such fighters as Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley, joined the LAPD in 1993. Because of his youthful appearance, he was assigned to a juvenile narcotics unit where he investigated drug use in high schools. He later transferred to the Rampart Division, where he continued to work in narcotics.

Carmen Studer - Carmen's coaching journey began when she 'discovered' the now famous personal development guru Byron Katie . Carmen regularly jokes that she found Byron Katie and "The Work" long before Oprah Winfrey did. In 1994 Byron Katie certified Carmen in "The Work" before life coach certification became en vogue. Carmen developed her own coaching systems in 2016. She created it to heal herself, but when she began sharing it with her friends and family she found them saying things like "I feel like I should pay you"
