According to a report by KCRA TV on April 21, a police dog in Fairfield, California, was bitten in the face by a suspect while on duty, and the suspect was suspected of taking drugs during the attack. The 44-year-old suspect, Kurt Dasilva, allegedly threatened a delivery driver and broke into a resident's home, causing the resident to flee, local police said. When police arrived, Dasilva refused to leave the house, and police stepped forward to arrest him. During the arrest, Dasilva attacked a police dog, biting it in the face and stabbing it in the body with a knife. The dog was then taken to the UC Davis Veterinary Hospital, where he is recovering accompanied by a caregiver.
