A Dramatic Demonstration of Soil Types and Uses

You need different kinds of soil to maximize function. This is early in the project. Removing a retaining wall, foresting the woods, and restoring access.

This project restored the grade to its original 1960 contours. Land bridges were necessary to structure and protect the land from erosion.

I ended up picking up most of the trash that was unearthed. It took a little over 100 tandem dump loads of fill to build out the earthworks.

As a no-burn site, stumps were buried or used in a berm at the bottom of the property. Where the wood is buried is under a detention pond.

The excavator and bulldozer were used to sort soil types. Topsoil was mounded so fill could provide structure. The fill soil was 50% or better clay. While top soil was full of organic materials.
