SV Ramble On | Building a Box For the Electric Oven & Induction Cooktop

We installed a new Force 10 propane range about 7 years ago before we moved aboard full time. The first thing we notices was that it took a lot of micro adjustments to get the oven temperature correct. We eventually had to buy a thermometer to sit inside the oven so we would have some idea of the temperature. More often than not, the oven was either way too hot or less than 300 degrees. The stove was a little better, but still very hard to simmer anything or attain actual "medium" heat.

Now that lithium batteries and induction cooktops are becoming more popular and more available, reliable and affordable, we decided to test out a fairly inexpensive electric oven (Cuisinart) and an induction cooktop. The oven we bought at Costco for about $150 and the cooktop (True Induction Mini Duo) was around $250. After using them for a few weeks, we knew we couldn't go back to the Force 10. We will still use propane for our Magma grill, but that's it.
