U of Michigan Medical School students walk out on distinguished Professor

Only moments after they repeated the White Ceremony Oath numerous new medical students walk out in protest before Dr Collier can give her speech. Reason: she holds a different view than they do on abortion. They had just stated in unison "I will mind my biases and treat every patient with compassion...I will assume the best in others and be kind...I will support my colleagues as we join to care for patients" Their shameful behavior is a troubling indication of what is happening in the field of medicine. The hypocrisy of their "oath" is not even evident to them as they walk out on an esteemed professor of medicine who had been selected to speak because she epitomizes the oath that they just repeated. Beware of whom you choose for your physician!
Thankfully, the administration did not succumb to the calls for cancelling the speaker. These "social justice warriors" have a lot to learn if they are going to become compassionate physicians who are willing to support their colleagues, are aware of their biases, and do not let their biases interfere with good patient care.
