Pope Francis visits the Lac Ste. Anne pilgrimage site in Alberta. The annual pilgrimage attracts tens of thousands of Indigenous participants from Canada and the United States. The Pope is visiting Canada from July 24 to 29 to meet with Indigenous peoples and to address the role of the Catholic Church in Canada’s residential school system. The papal visit also includes stops in Quebec City and Iqaluit. (July 26, 2022)
