Tucker Carlson vs. Mike Bloomberg | The Truth About Tucker Carlson's Dishonest Debating Style
Tucker Carlson said in his recent monologue,
"So what is Mike Bloomberg actually running on? That’s a trick question! Bloomberg isn’t running on anything! Not because he doesn’t have ideas, he’s got plenty of ideas and some of them are far outside the American mainstream. But Bloomberg doesn’t think any of that matters! He’s not running on ideas. He’s not trying to convince voters of anything. He’s not making arguments or working to change their minds on policies they care about. He's trying to buy them and hence, the presidency. It’s the single most cynical political campaign ever run in this country. Bloomberg is trying to subvert our democracy with cash and he’s going all-in to do it." — Tucker: Bloomberg is trying to buy the election
Like Tucker Carlson, I’m a conservative nationalist who believes in increasing import tariffs and having a strong border in order to reduce inequality.
But Tucker Carlson’s monologue can only be described as dishonest pandering targeted at America’s most ignorant.
It’s dishonest because Mike Bloomberg is running on far more ideas than Donald Trump ever did.
If Tucker Carlson went to Mike Bloomberg’s website, he’d see he has released position papers on 31 issues.
And if Tucker Carlson went to Mike Bloomberg’s YouTube channel, he’d see Mike Bloomberg’s speeches are much more substantive and policy-orientated all-be-it drier than Donald Trump’s rallies.
It’s fair to attack Mike Bloomberg on his policies, but to suggest he isn’t running on any is pure ignorance.
I can empathize with Tucker Carlson though because it’s easier to ignore a plethora of complex policies than it is to ignore three simple slogans. I actually think part of Mike Bloomberg’s problem is that he’s too substantive. He should hone it in on 3 key issues with a nice slogan to beat into the American psyche.
And this whole notion that Mike Bloomberg is trying to “buy the election” is absurd. I addressed it in detail before, but to come from Tucker Carlson is especially hypocritical because Donald Trump ran on his own money too.
Tucker Carlson and Republicans loved the idea that Donald Trump couldn't be bought!
But now that Bloomberg, a far more successful businessman, is doing the same he is "buying the presidency”?
Pure hypocrisy.
Tucker Carlson went on to say,
Tucker: Watch him here disavow stop-and-frisk, the single best policy he had as Mayor of New York… {cuts to Bloomberg}
Bloomberg: I defended it, looking back, for too long because I didn’t understand then the unintended pain it was causing to young brown and black families and their kids.

Tucker: So think about what you just saw. It’s not the normal pandering. Michael Bloomberg believes passionately in gun control. It’s his life mission. It’s his signature issue. Stop-and-frisk may have been the most effective gun control policy ever administered anywhere. It took thousands of illegal firearms off the streets of New York, but Democratic primary voters decided they don’t like it. They are against stop-and-frisk. So without even pausing, Bloomberg grovels, as you just saw, and attacks his own legacy. Why did he do that? Because he doesn’t care. Whatever! They are only words! He’ll do whatever it takes. Now they say politicians are ethically flexible, and of course, they are. But this is different. There is something ominious about it. Bloomberg can seamlessly change his core beliefs because he doesn’t think his beliefs are relevant to the outcome of this race. Only his wealth matters. And the horrifying fact is he may be right.
So as you can see I highlighted all his lies in bold so we can address them. First I have to acknowledge it's pretty impressive how many he could jam in there in such a short amount of time. Now a lot of them are pretty innocuous, but it’s important to point them out too because it demonstrates just how easily he is willing to make things up out of thin air.
Tucker said gun control is Bloomberg's life mission, but Bloomberg has NEVER said that. Yes, he has spent a lot of money on it, but Bloomberg has spent far more money and time on other causes such as building his business, being mayor of America’s largest city, and now running for president (just to name a few).
Tucker said stop-and-frisk is the most effective gun control policy ever administered, but what evidence does he use to support this claim? Zero.
