Their venom is highly toxic but the actual bite may be painless. Fishermen may be bitten when encountering sea snakes in nets. Signs and symptoms develop in minutes to hours and include dizziness, nausea, weakness, difficulty speaking or swallowing, pain, altered mental status, coma, and respiratory collapse.
