To trade successfully with Bollinger bands, you must understand their limitations. This strategy is quite easy to get wrong, as you may have read in trade forums that using them is not effective. It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you should buy a stock once it crosses the lower band. However, you must wait for confirmation before trading. In this way, you'll be able to profit from price swings over a few days.

As price action moves along the upper and lower bands, it can be a good idea to enter when it is trading near the middle band.
