Last year we traveled to southern Thailand and this year we decided to visit northern part of Thailand, and our first destination was Chiang Mai. We spent a week in Chiang Mai. It is the second biggest city in Thailand and there are many things to do, from shopping to hiking. In this video we want to share with you guys places that we found fun to go visit.

Elephant sanctuaries are pretty popular tourist's thing to do in Thailand in general and there are many of them. We went to the elephant sanctuary that is authentic and really cares for their animals. It is a family owned sanctuary and the elephants are the family members for them as people. We enjoyed our time there so much! We preped the food for the elephants, fed them, played with them and shared hugs, and after that we bathed them, they definitely had some fun with us as well. After that we had an awesome lunch cooked by the owner! Recomend to visit this sanctuary, check out them on trip adviser: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g293917-d17853366-Reviews-Elephant_Freedom_Village-Chiang_Mai.html

The next place we reccomend is Amaravati Wellness Center which located in about 15 minutes outside the city. We went there with friends on Sunday morning to have a yoga class and lunch afterwards. This place offers many retreats and you can stay in one of their rooms which are spacious and comfortable. And the place is 360 degrees surrounded by the mountains. Check out their website and see what you can find for yourself: https://www.amaravatiwellnesscenter.com

Orchids are my favorite flowers and when I found out that there is a place in Chiang Mai that is full of orchids we were on our way. Orchid and butterfly farm in Chiang Mai is actually located not far from Amaravati Wellness Center. The flowers are gorgeous and the butterflies are beautiful. We spent about 1,5 hours there, they also have a coffee shop and a restaurant if you want to have lunch among the stunning orchids. You also can purchase the orchid and plant it at home and that will become your unforgettable memory from Chiang Mai.

Right in the city not far from Chiang Mai University there is a popular hike through the jungle called Monk's Trail that leads to Wat Pha Lat (temple). On your way you'll see the orange clothes wrapt around the trees, so you won't get lost. The temple itself is big with various sculptures and parks. It will take you up to 45 minutes to get there, the hike is not hard, and you'll probably be in a share all the way to the temple.

If you love mountains, nature, and hiking, you should definitely visit the highest peak in Chiang Mai called Doi Pui Peak, wchich is a part of Himalayan Mountain Range. You can take a scooter ride throught the mountains to the begining of the trail for about 30 minutes. The hike itself is 2 km one way, not hard, the road is nice and paved. They also call the trail "The Bird singing trail". Bring some snacks with you and spend a little longer at the top.

You can also walk around the city, go to the so called old city and have a delicious smoothy on your way, don't forget to stop by the Night Bazar, you'll not leave with empty hands, we promise! ;)
