Tampa Bay Speckled Trout fishing on Artificial Lures - A great day of fishing can be had by working the sea grass beds and mangrove shorelines in Tampa Bay. The west coast of Florida is crawling with speckled trout, also called spotted sea trout. In this episode we are fishing in the Fort Desoto Area looking for pre spawn speckled trout and trying to establish a pattern of fish behavior. While working a cove we hook several fish including 2 nice keeper size trout. After that bite dies off, we move out to the big open flat away from the Island. Hitting different sand holes and pockets on the flat, we establish a pattern of getting bites on the leeward side of the sand holes. We didn't catch and big trout in these areas so we may be a bit early for the large breeding size females. Hopefully in the coming weeks we will begin to see these fish show up around the Bay.
