Singapore extending travel restriction to all of South East Asia, UK, Switzerland and Japan!

Singapore escalated its travel restrictions to include all of South East Asia, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Japan.

This is a major escalation in the fight to contain the spread of SARS-Cov-2 / Covid19 in Singapore. This is a huge, and definitely difficult decision, for Singapore to apply travel restriction on our entire neighbourhood - a measure that will definitely incur major economic repercussions.

Singapore however is also well known for its pragmatism to do what is right despite it difficulty.

In addition, Singapore government also expressed its disappointment that United Kingdom, Switzerland, and to a slight lesser extent, Japan - for their apparent surrender to the idea of containment. Especially in UK, Boris Johnson publicly thrown in the towel and announced a switch from the containment strategy to a delay strategy. This goes counter against the efforts made by Singapore in the fight against Covid-19.

We will no doubt see further escalation in travel restriction to the whole of Europe at this rate - and possibly USA, pending our observation of their containment measures.
