California Department of Fish and Wildlife, 2020 Desert Bighorn Sheep Survey

Each year, CDFW’s South Coast Region puts out a call for volunteers to help count desert bighorn sheep in the San Gabriel Mountains. We were fortunate that this year’s effort, on March 1, came just before social distancing precautions were put into place statewide. Even though the weather was uncooperative, those who volunteered their time enjoyed the effort – and their time and contributions are greatly appreciated by the wildlife biologists who are tasked with monitoring this iconic Southern California species.
