A covenant defines a relationship between two parties and is permanent. Death is the punishment of breaking a covenant. Two parties become one, they are committed to each other, they cover each other's weaknesses and share their victories and have common enemies. Most people think Christianity is a religion like other religions and is one of many but that's not true. Christianity is a covenant relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ. Basically God the Son came in human form, became like us to be our High priest before God the Father and represent us before Heaven while at the same time He represented heaven here, that's why the Bible calls Jesus the Great High Priest and the Mediator of the New Covenant. Jesus also gave His own Blood to ratify the New Covenant just like any other Covenant that is ratified with Blood. Our relationship with God is a permanent covenant and Jesus is the mediator and the sacrifice. Based on this covenant, Jesus is the only God and savior and we only worship and serve the God of the Bible and He is committed to us and has saved us and provides our needs and defends us. Every promise God has given us is secure with His own Blood. in the ancient time when people agreed on something, they would use blood to secure their agreement, today people use ink and paper and easily break their agreement and promise. Back then it was blood, that meant you would be committed to that agreement to the point of Bloodshed. God is committed to keep all His promises and signed the agreement with His own blood, we also are committed to serve and worship Jesus, the God of the Bible.
