Dusty and otter duck part-5

I think this video gives you a very good taste of what Dusty and Otter are trying to navigate right now. Otter still has all the energy in the world (esp in the mornings!) and Dusty is a little slow to get going. Otter relentlessly waits for her, calls for her, today even went all the way back into their house to get her. She even saves all the cucumbers until Dusty gets up to eat with her. They are truly a pair. Many have asked yesterday if we’d consider getting another duck or ducks to befriend whoever is left when one of our girls inevitably passes first. Of course we’d never leave one of these girls alone, but we aren’t sure exactly how we’re going to handle it yet. It is something on our minds and I know we’ll find the right solution when we need it. For now we let them find a new way to be together as they age. Each drawing on their strengths, Dusty’s free spirit and Otter’s loyalty and patience. We head to the vet later so will update then with what we’ve decided for Dusty.
