Dusty and otter duck part-3

Friends with severe arthritis, we want your opinion. Dusty’s osteoarthritis in her knees has been progressively getting worse. All of the anti inflammatories and cold laser helped for a while but her knee joints just keep deteriorating under the weight of her body 😞 We did a steroid injection last month which worked wonders and made her walk like normal again. Only thing is I noticed it (or possibly combination of that with her regular hormone implant) decreased her appetite significantly. She lost a noticeable amount of weight and just wasn’t interested in their feed or snacks all that much, though she did forage more. Still, she lost weight and appetite for sure. My question for you is, how painful/uncomfortable is arthritis in your knees when you’re sitting down. Is it still as painful as when you’re walking around or much less so? I want to know because if the steroids do cause unwanted side effects, I want to have a plan in place to keep her comfortable if at all possible. She’s currently spending most of her time laying down or swimming which is fine, but long term I don’t want her to be suffering silently. She does seem pretty happy otherwise, poor girl just can’t walk that much 😞 We have another appt at vet on Wednesday when we can redo the steroid or not. I still have to ask vet his opinion too. Wheelchair for her may be an option but she won’t be able to move all that much in our hilly yard, though it could take pressure off her legs. Our vet has been honest with me that in general pets with arthritis like this do ok for a while with steroids but eventually it’s bad enough that it’s time to say goodbye 😞Full disclosure, his opinion, he said he believes that time could come in months, maybe a year tops 😖Please weigh in if you’re an arthritis sufferer and it impacts your ability to be mobile.
