One of my friends asked for some basic tips and tricks to catching fish. So far its a cold rainy early spring in Maryland, I went over a little bit of fish eating patterns and a few basic lures. Bass fishing patterns are different depending on what body of water you are fishing in and what time of year you are in. Right now its the pre spawn to the spawn, fish are usually pretty active during the pre spawn because the temperatures are going up but when the when the water hits the correct temperature they will be sitting on beds and wont be eating, they will strike to protect there eggs but that's it. When the fish are in the post spawn mode they will be really aggressive, the males sit on the bed and are nearly starved to death so they go out and start eating. In the mid Atlantic this time usually runs from late April to May or June depending on the temperatures. At this point the water temperatures are optimal for fish to feed, they will be chasing a lot more and will be pretty aggressive. Fish will always try to stay at a depth that is comfortable for them with the best oxygen saturation. This is why bank fishing is good during may and through out the summer, when the water is warm in the summer these same fish will be active in shallower water. When it gets too hot fish will turn off during the day and be active in the early morning or in the evening, that's when its time for top water fishing which I will cover during a later video. Fishing that was covered in this video was fishing with a jerk bait, vibrating jig specifically the chatter bait and fineness fishing. I will cover as many bass fishing topics as I can for beginners. If you want to see a really good explanation of how bass act especially during the spawn check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrZIA8dSzsQ
