KING JAMES BIBLE PREACHING, DOCTRINE OF GOOD VERSUS TEACHINGS OF HERETICS AND APOSTATES.
2 Kings 4:38-41 "And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and there was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.
And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not.
So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof.
But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot."
Proverbs 20:6 "Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?"
Isaiah 64:6" But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

This is a sermon contrasting -- to man's shame -- self-righteousness (good works supposedly springing from human virtue and innate merit) versus the righteousness of God (imparted to God's elect by His grace who have life in Christ Jesus).
There is a great deception in the world, and most shamefully in churches purporting to be Christian but which are filled with unclean spirits; claiming to be teaching the truth of God as found in His Holy word, but dissolving His word with the wicked imaginations and idolatrous traditions of man.
It is a wonder for all to consider that were it not for the mercy of God in choosing some to be imbued with His Holy Spirit (so that their eyes might be opened to see Him in His word and works), ALL would be dead in trespasses and sin, without merit or ability to do anything good -- certainly not "good enough" to erase the debt for sin for the great trespasses for which we are all guilty.
This sermon also presents a choice -- for all you free-will believing, will-worshippers:
You can choose to continue to maintain a "demand deposit account" against God (in which you deposit your prayers and offerings, and good works, and sacrifices, and "indulgenced acts", and adjustments of morality to forgive yourself) in hopes of claiming a prize and great reward when you come at last and present yourself (at the time of His choosing) before the King of all creation sitting in His judgment seat.
Or, you can abase yourself, admitting your abasement and utter unworthiness to claim merit worthy of reward for any of your works which all originate in sinful pride and come forth defiled; admitting your only hope is in the Lord and His mercy; admitting you are only clean if He has made you clean by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ Who alone is able to ransom you; admitting the only good works you can perform originate in and are His works ordained for you as a branch of His vine to bring forth good fruit in abundance to His honor and glory NOT yours.
There is much else to hear and thank God for in this sermon for all those capable of spiritual discernment, resting from their works by the grace of God and the inspiration of His Holy Spirit indwelling them.
