The picture used for Chapter XII is a public domain image by Emily Mesner (employee of the National Park Service) of a sunset in the Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska, taken on June 14, 2019. I know it's a bit anti-climatic, but it was difficult to find apropos pictures for this chapter. Since the story repeatedly references the redness of the sky and the clouds, and the whole thing takes place in the mountains, I figured this picture at least captures the basic mood. It's Alaska, not Antarctica, but it is at least a very cold place.
