This story explores the pros and cons of having antlers. Luckily things resolve themselves, but not entirely. You can grow more than just antlers in a night.

This imaginative story captured my mind as a child. I loved the illustrative style of David Small and the story didn’t get too hung up on whether or not Imogene’s antlers were actually a problem. There’s no time wasted on trying to fix it. Instead she just goes about her day finding that there are some certain advantages to having horns on her head. Make of it what you like. I don’t know that there are too many life lessons to this story aside from the constant worrying of her mother that this will make her or her family a laughing stock.
