Dr. Robert Malone On Depression, Big Pharma, Vitamin D, Sunlight

Dr. Robert Malone comments on new research that indicates there is no clear evidence that low serotonin levels are responsible for depression which is the basis for the widespread use of antidepressants. What are we getting wrong and how should we be treating depression? Do we have to use pharmaceutical cocktails to treat depression?

After noting that depression is a very complex disease, Dr. Malone says that social isolation, and the fragmentation of community, which are exasperated by the misuse/overuse of technology, are major contributors to depression. Dr. Malone then goes on to say that while studies that connect serotonin abnormalities to depression are basically "junk", the science that promotes the use of Vitamin D via direct exposure to the sun to treat depression is robust.

"My friends, you have to get out, you have to get direct sunlight, the more the better. Sunscreens are actually not your friend in terms of vitamin D. I just want to leave everyone with the understanding that we have options. And what a surprise: They are options that the pharmaceutical companies have done their best to suppress."
