#GVOS2020 - Aerangis fastuosa

Miniature orchid native to Madagascar. A first time bloomer for me, and despite the brown blemishes on the otherwise pristine white blooms, I think it did a great job in actually blooming, based on how 'immature' the orchid is. The spike started to push in November, and these blooms are approx 10 days old at the point of filming (21/03/2020). The fragrance is quite complex, with heavy notes of jasmin and lavender soap. The top of the leaves do not have a smooth surface, basically covered in a thick 'cuticle' for protection. I grow this orchid on an inorganic mount, as the small size of it makes it prone to crown or stem rot. This gives me better control on wet / dry cycle, preferring to mist more often when needed. A little sphagnum moss helps retain some humidity around the plant in the hot summer months.
