Condensing Tankless Water Heater Exhaust Temperature

Let's check the exhaust temperature on the tank less water heater and see how hot it gets.

From testing at 1/3 output (40K BTU/hr or 12KW) it gets up to 100°F or 38°C
At 2/3 output (80K BTU/hr or 24KW) it rises to 110°F or 43°C

I finally found an outdoor thermometer with a long enough wired sensor to reach from the roof down to the heater in the garage. Tied the sensor to a stiff wire then fed that up through the garage ceiling. Then up to the attic to feed the wire up through the roof penetration. Then up onto the roof to pull the sensor up and drop it down the vent stack.
