Combined Parking Light and Turn Signal, 1st generation Toyota 4Runner

This video contains flashing lights, if that bothers you, be warned!

Since the front turn signal stopped working, let's take a look at this modification while I get it going again.

On the 1st generation Toyota 4Runner and Hilux Pickup models, the factory setup was to have separate turn signal and parking lights. The turn signals were recessed into the factory front bumper and only visible from the front.

This modification fits a dual filament, 1157 type bulb into the parking light housing and eliminates the original turn signals. This is the same type of bulb in the rear tail light housing for the brake and running lights.

This page also has links to alternate modifications using different types of bulbs. I made this modification in the late 1990s. Aside from one broken housing that I had to replace, this has been working great since then.
