Toyota 4WD Truck E-Brake Lever/Cable Extensions

Here's an easy fix for an all to common problem on Toyota 4WD trucks with leaf springs.
These bolt-on extensions can raise the e-brake lever attachment point higher so the cable can clear a thicker leaf spring pack, or lift block (up to 2") or thick pinion angle shim. They can also be used when swapping a wider "IFS" rear axle onto a solid axle truck. For lift blocks of 3" or taller, you can typically run the e-brake cable below the leaf springs, no extension required.

You do need to mark and drill (5/16" or 8mm) a hole in the end of the extension to fit your situation. It's easy enough to place the extension on the e-brake lever and then pull the e-brake cable over and mark where the hole needs to be. You want the cable to end up without a lot of slack to ensure proper e-brake operation. One tradeoff on the extensions is the higher up the hole is, the more travel of the e-brake handle is required to set the brakes, but you have more leverage on the brakes so the handle is easier to pull.
