A Brief History of: The St. Francis Dam Disaster (Short Documentary)

Today we are looking at the St Francis (Near LA) dam disaster, it is considered to be one of the worst American civil engineering disasters of the 20th century and remains the second-greatest loss of life in California's history.

The dam was designed and built between 1924 and 1926 as part of the Los Angeles water project, headed up by the famous William Mulholland, but his career would end the same night as the disaster.

The event took place at 11:57 p.m. on 12 March, 1928, the dam failure, and resulting flood killed at least 431 people
