LIVE - CHAZ Live Stream Seattle • The End of CHAZ/CHOP Is Near! (June 24, 2020)

The end is near for Seattle’s Capitol Hill CHOP neighborhood (formerly known as CHAZ). After 3 separate shootings within a 4 day period the Seattle City Mayor and Seattle City Police Chief are in agreement that law needs to be restored to the area. Police abandoned their East Precinct on June 8th and will not retake the Precinct by force.

Instead, community leaders will be allowed to handle the dismantling of the area in the near future. A timetable has not been set. But local residents and business owners are both in agreement that the overnight crime needs to stop. Shootings, theft, assault, sexual assault, vandalism, and arson have all occurred within the CHOP neighborhood typically at night.

Seattle City workers helped install a better system of barricades to allow greater access to emergency services. While daytime protests have mostly been violence-free it’s the overnight element of people living in the CHOP neighborhood that is unacceptable to local residents, business owners, the police chief, and mayor.
