MOTHER TERESA : The Bharat Ratna christened Saint
Mother Teresa, christened as Saint Teresa of Calcutta by the Roman Catholic Church, was a Roman Catholic nun who voluntarily took Indian citizenship in 1948. He founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata in 1950. He helped the poor, sick, orphaned and dying people for 45 years and also paved the way for the spread of the Missionaries of Charity.
By the 1970s she became famous for her humanitarian work for the poor and helpless, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 1980. By the time of her death it was controlling 610 missions in 123 countries. This included hospices/homes for patients with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis as well as soups, kitchens, counseling programs for children and families, orphanages and schools.
