Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Switch) - Game #25: Sevens

Game #25 on our list of 51 Worldwide Classics is another game that I had never played before until this collection: Sevens! This one is simpler to play but still has an element of strategy to it depending on the house rules set. In this game, each player is dealt 13 cards, with all the 7's placed in a vertical column in the center of the table. Each player must play a card in numerical order either before or after the 7 of its suit and then once connected they can play a card that falls before or after a card of the same suit on the table (for example, if the spades row is connected from 6 through 9, you can play a 5 or 10 on it). If you don't have any cards left to play, you immediately lose the game (though you can enable passing your turn with a limit on how many times you can pass in the house rules). The first player to play all of their cards (or the last player standing if everyone else exceeds the pass limit) wins.

There are also two house rules you can adjust in this game, Including:
-Pass - Set how many times a player is allowed to pass before they lose the game. Can be set to either 5, 3, 1, or Off (which means no passing allowed. If you can't play, you're out!)
-Aces and Kings - Normally each suit in a row goes from 7 down to Ace and from 7 up to King. But if this rule is enabled, players can connect one end to the other by playing an Ace to go with a King and vice versa.

If you have passing enabled, this can introduce an element of strategy to the game, because you can choose to use up one of your passes even if you can play for the sake of blocking your opponents and making them use their passes first, knocking them out.

There are four levels of difficulty for the CPU players: Normal, Hard, Amazing, and Impossible, which must be unlocked in order. Beat the Impossible CPU to master the game. Also, each time you play it, you can unlock a piece of trivia about the game. There are two pieces of trivia about Sevens:

1. It is commonly believed that this game originated in Japan.
2. Playing this game in real life is a great way to make sure you aren't missing any cards from your deck. (Though you'll really want to shuffle them quite a few times afterwards, since all the cards will be in order by number and suit at the end of the game)

Personal story: This is my first experience with this game. Never played it before..
