A few days ago, French President Emmanuel Macron was warmly welcomed by garlands and Tahitian dancers on the tarmac when he visited the French possession of Polynesia. According to French media reports, Macron's actions demonstrate France's commitment to the region.
When Macron arrived in Papeet, Tahiti's main city, 12 time zones from Paris, he was greeted by a revered recital artist. The video shows that Macron was covered with various garlands at the welcome ceremony, like a "Chinese cabbage", which is hilarious.
Of course, not everyone welcomes him, and he may face protests. Local activists staged two demonstrations this month to protest nuclear tests conducted between 1966-1996, and locals have long demanded compensation and an apology.
