Eddie Dempsey, UK Rail Union Representative talks about why RMT workers are on strike when questioned about the timing of the Commonwealth Games. The Majority Report crew discuss how workers like from the RMT union were deemed “essential” until it became time to provide them with benefits. The crew talks about the shared sacrifice that comes with striking, which is done to get the attention of companies in the hope that they will meet to an agreement with unions. The MR crew also talks about how in the United States, unions are mystified and opposed to being seen as an organization working in the best interest of itself to obtain the maximum value for specialized labor.

You know in this country, would be frank like you hear people you know like the reason why top athletes get paid millions of dollars is that a lot of people want to come and see them play. A lot of people want to come to take the train less so in the us if we have this is more reason for uh for infrastructure, more public transport so people understand the beauty of it in other parts of the country, but i think you know that's the thing I appreciate about that-
