On July 10, 2022 at approximately 12:15 in the afternoon, Flossmoor Police fatally shot a 64-year-old woman that charged at them with a large knife. Madeline Miller was believed to be armed and dangerous when police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 1400-block of Joyce Drive.

According to the report, Miller was threatening and attacking a female family member with a knife. When officers arrived, they heard arguing and commotion inside the home. An elderly female opened the door and yelled "she's trying to kill me.” Armed with a large knife, Miller ran at officers with the knife pointed in their direction. Officers ordered her to drop the knife but Miller continued to advance toward police in a riotous and threatening manner, at which point 2 officers fired their duty weapons striking Miller in the arm once and in the torso twice. Police rendered first aid and called paramedics. Miller was transported to Advocate South Suburban Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The elderly family member was also taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries sustained from the incident. None of the responding officers were injured and have been placed on administrative leave per departmental policy.

Flossmoor is a suburb approximately 35 minutes south of Chicago aka “Chiraq.”
