Sri Lankan protesters burn effigy of acting president
Anti-government protesters in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo held an impromptu bonfire outside the office of acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe, with fuel provided by an effigy of the politician.
Wickremesinghe was prime minister until huge unrest and protests saw then-president Gotabaya Rajapaksa flee the country, at which time Wickremesinghe took over the role temporarily.
The protests have continued, however, spurred by economic crises and months of shortages, leading to widespread anger and demands that the government be removed.
