Northern European Grandmothers by Peder Mork Monsted ( Danish 1859 – 1941)

(multilingual subtitles) In this video, I have collected several of Monstead's paintings of northern country grandmothers and grandfathers surrounded by their everyday country setting.

The countryside landscape is one of the artist's favorite themes. The northern village is reflected in his works with love and tenderness. We can see in these plots certain sadness due to poverty and not well-groomed village life.
