Nelson Mandela : Nobel laureate African President

Every year on 18 July, the birthday of Nobel laureate African President Nelson Mandela is celebrated by the United Nations as International Day. Its decision was taken on 18 July 2010, to celebrate every year since Mandela turned 92. Mandela spent most of his life (27 years) in prison. He spent most of his time in captivity at the infamous Robben Island prison on the edge of Cape Town. On his 91st birthday, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said - "Mandela is a symbol of high ideals in the United Nations. efforts are being given."
