Does 6.5 Grendel Make 223 Pointless?

People are always arguing over the relative merits of different calibers. It seems like the more popular a "new" caliber gets the more the fans of the "norm" argue about it. 6.5 Grendel hits a sweet spot for hunting with the AR15 platform, but does it make the standard 5.56/223 round obsolete or is it still a situation specific thing? After all, the Grendel is also better for extreme range with the platform.

TL:DR - 223/5.56 is still king, but it's not because it's so great, it's because it fills a niche that some REALLY big budgets want filled. For the rest of us, if prices and availability weren't crazy, 6.5 Grendel is probably better.
