The Philadelphia Experiment is an alleged military experiment supposed to have been carried out by the U.S. Navy at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sometime around October 28, 1943. The U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Eldridge (DE-173) was claimed to have been rendered invisible (or "cloaked") to enemy devices. The story first appeared in 1955, in letters of unknown origin sent to a writer and astronomer, Morris K. Jessup.

History's Mysteries Documentary on The Philadelphia Experiment. Though the details of what has claimed to have occurred are still widely debated I've found several lines of research that support that this was a real experiment gone awry. The fantastic claims of the experiment, even if completely true, would require more evidence to verify. That being said- I don't put the things claimed to have occurred in The Philadelphia Experiment outside the possibilities of reality, especially when attempting to tamper with the electromagnetic field.
