Family and friends of 24-year-old Donna-Lee Donaldson staged a protest in New Kingston on Sunday for her safe return.

The protest was held outside the gates of an apartment complex. It is alleged that she was last seen in that area.

Donaldson was reported missing on Wednesday, July 13.

“We lost communication with Donna-Lee at 5 pm Tuesday and we haven’t heard from her since. We reported this matter the following day, on Wednesday, which would now make it five days since the police have this missing case and yet the only thing they have reported to us is that they are doing everything in their will to ensure that justice comes for Donna-Lee. However, they haven’t given us any detailed update on what they are doing,” Donna-Lee’s brother told OBSERVER ONLINE.

Family members say that they are dissatisfied with the pace at which investigators are progressing.

In a release this afternoon, the communications unit of the Jamaica Constabulary stated that a high-level probe is underway for the missing woman.

It added that senior investigators from the St Andrew Central Police Division, with the oversight of Criminal Investigations Branch HQ, along with members of the Communication Forensic and Cybercrime Division (CFCD), and also Scenes of Crime investigators, are involved in the missing person probe.

“Consequent on reports that a serving member was among the last persons known to have been with her, a Senior Gazetted Officer from the St Andrew Central Division has been assigned to lead the investigation,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the police are asking anyone with any information that they believe might be useful to this investigation to contact theCrime Stop 311, Police Emergency at 119.
