Lyrics video for Never Gonna Change, the first single from my "Victory" EP!

Never Gonna Change was the first single I released from the EP and, like all the songs on the Victory EP, is an older song written around 1995 but never released; however, unlike the name, this song has changed a LOT, and probably the most out of this set of songs. This is a complex song with shifting time signatures and different sections of varying genre influences. A 7/4 progressive rock song morphs into a 4/4 latin-based pop song morphs into a melodic hard rock song; you know the thing!

The instrumental in this song is a total re-write, as I've tried to get away from songs that the instrumental section mirrors other parts of the song; I've made these instrumental section unique on this EP to keep the interest of the listener. In this song, I switch the key from A minor to the relative major of C and used some jazz-influenced chording in this section 6/9 and major and minor 7 chords. The lead over the top is smooth and highly melodic. Then once again the second half of the instrumental gets heavy, there's another change, and it smoothly transitions back to A minor and the hook.

This song is different! I hope you enjoy it. When I got started on this project, I HAD to do this song first, because it was going to set the bar the highest to push me through several new techniques and technologies I was using on this EP I hadn't employed before. So there was a massive learning curve, but it helped me to learn and push the envelope to make the remaining song the best they could be.

On this song, as with the entire EP, I've played all the guitars, bass guitar, programmed drums and keyboards, co-produced, and written all the lyrics and music. The EP was co-produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Cat Corelli.
