FULL TRANSCRIPT

Our Mastermind program is a leadership program in the sense that we're looking for individuals who have a leadership gift or there is the presence of this gifting, as affirmed by others. We're not expecting the "perfect of," but the "presence of" leadership gifting. The reason I say that others need to "affirm" the presence of a leadership gift because we tend to think we're something that we are not.

One of the many ways to assess whether or not you're a leader is by the number of folks who come to you for help. This "test" is not the only criteria, but it must be present in your daily relational interactions. In addition to this, you must also have a desire to be a biblical counselor, who hopes to counsel others. I say this because many of our students come to our program because they want to grow personally, have a better marriage, be a more effective parent, and a helpful friend within their spheres of influence.

All of these things are good, without question. But you can learn what you need to be those things through other less intensive means. Thus, the best folks who are suited for this program are current or potential leaders who want to learn how to do biblical counseling rather than the individual who wants to grow in biblical counseling for themselves and maybe a few friends that they encounter sporadically.

Let me state it another way: It would be exceptional for any student to finish the program if they did not want to be a biblical counselor. The overwhelming majority of our graduates are doing counseling currently or looking to do biblical counseling. The reason for this outcome is because those who want to be biblical counselors have a stronger desire that gives them the perseverance, determination, and willingness to do what it takes to complete it. The rest, who quit during the process, are not that ambitious or determined, and when the "cares of life" keep rolling in, they leave the program.

Let me be clear: If you have motivated determination to be a biblical counselor, according to the gifting that God has given you, and you desire that "prize" in your future, you will do what it takes to complete our training. If you are not like this, you will stop; they all do. I want every Christian to take our program because it is that good, but I also don't want to "oversell" what we're doing because we want numbers or your money.

I want determined people, who have a strong work ethic, and a clear goal for what they want from this training, which is to be a biblical counselor. If you're not this type of person, our articles, podcasts, videos, and forums would be perfect for you. You could read, listen, and watch materials for years, and you could interact with us regarding your questions. In time, you would learn how to be a better person, spouse, parent, and friend. And you would be able to offer sound soul care to others.
