  • Check out the Qortal project. More of a blockchain based protocol than a coin. Low power, true peer to peer, smart contract trading, chat, web sites and coin (of course). It's come a long way in 2 years and isn't a get rich quick scheme. The "minting" pays for your electricity & bandwidth maybe a bit more. Open source, runs on Win, Mac, Linux, Pi with 4-8 GB RAM. You are rewarded for having a node available to do the transaction, not actually doing it. All available nodes share in the rewards. A website like github is planned for the qortal web network. Then the ability to shut it down or mandate changes or even know who is working on it becomes impossible. Exchanges are just used as on/off ramps to the qortal network. Full disclosure: I've invested $75 into Qort (the coin) to test things out and my minting rewards are about 250 Qort. LOL. Test drive budget here.
