I have three tripods in my small work studio, one for the key light, one for the camera and one for the camera monitor and it’s getting to be too much of a squeeze. This extension arm means I can use the camera tripod to also support the camera monitor.

In the rather plain box are the extension arm itself, and a simple two page user guide, not that it is needed.

The extension arm is hinged at the centre with fully adjustable ball and socket heads on either end. The shorter section of the hinged arm is 120 mm, the longer is 180mm. On one end is a non-detachable male 1/4" screw mount, on the other a cold shoe mount which can be removed to reveal another male 1/4" screw mount. It comes with a heavy-duty all metal clamp with padded jaws which can open between 15 and 50 mm and has two threaded screw mount apertures, one for 1/4" and the other for 3/8".

To get the best results some care has to be taken when fitting the arm. Make sure that the slot on the ball and socket heads is positioned so that the arm cannot slide out of position. Also, take note that the large central locking knob will tighten both ball and sockets together. The maximum weight the arm can support is 1.5Kg.

Build quality is first rate and this feels like a quality piece of photographic kit. At just eleven inches this arm is not that long and although the short length makes it more stable many users may prefer to find a longer version.

Nevertheless for the £17.99 price, this is still an excellent buy.
