Scot Stoddard & Catherine Corelli - Cassini Drive

Cassini Drive is the first collaboration between Scot Stoddard and Catherine Corelli, a house/trance/techno song with rock elements! Recorded in the summer of 2017, this song brings together varying styles and musical tastes to combine into something unique. We have combined electronic elements and more traditional rock instrumentation into one special little package.

Cassini Drive is based off the song "Ode To Rock 'n Roll" from my Transcend Album. Cat has always challenged me to expand my musical horizons, and when I decided to try out a new genre, Cassini Drive was the result, after many revisions and a whole lot of trial and error. Cat had her own challenge in this project in learning how to play saxophone and contributing a wonderful sax track!

I contributed the electric piano parts, which Cat sampled and utilized in the beginning of this song. I also played the lead guitar track, which probably my most favorite lead solo I've ever recorded. Cat sang the vocal lines, played the sax and did all the programming, audio production and mix and master.

An interesting twist is that Cat was in Moscow, Russia at the time of this project, and I was in Syracuse, NY, so this collaboration was online! However, now she's here in the US and we continue to make music.

The name for this track was derived from the coincidence of the Cassini Saturn orbiter decommissioning at the exact time of our release! That gave us a sense of exploration we tried to portray in the song, which was an exploration of new things for us; me doing EDM, and Cat playing saxophone!
