STRAIT-JACKET 1964 - Lucy Harbin is released from an asylum after 20 years for the axe murders of her husband & his mistress during a crime of passion witnessed by her young daughter, Carol. While trying to renew ties with Carol, now a young woman about to be married, axe murders begin to occur once again.

William Castle had an adept script from Robert Bloch and cast Joan Crawford after Joan Blondell suffered a bad injury at her home. Crawford had many demands, like 15% of the take, but Castle was glad to have her. No real gimmicks were needed with Joan Crawford on the bill. In contrast to The Night Walker, same year, this film had poor reviews yet box office success, thanks to a re-release in the Summer of 1964 for Drive-Ins.
